Industry thrives on talent, and talent builds on technology. From October 24th to 26th, the Shandong Province Urban Leading Industry Vocational Skills Competition and the 2024 National Construction Machinery Industry Workers' Vocational Skills Competition, hosted by the China Workers' Technical Association and the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, were held in Linyi. More than 80 athletes from over 40 enterprises and units both inside and outside the province competed on the same stage, showcasing the talents and skills of the new era.
On the morning of the 24th, the opening ceremony of the competition was grandly held at the Lingong Training Center. Liu Shuyuan, Vice Chairman of the China Workers' Technical Association and Minister of Finance, Li Ying, Minister of the Rights and Interests Protection Department and Second level Inspector of the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, attended and delivered speeches. Liu Fei, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Linyi Municipal People's Congress and Chairman of the Linyi Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, An Fenghe, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of Linyi Vocational College, and Wen Degang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lingong Group and General Manager of Shandong Lingong, also attended and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wang Jiaxing, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions. Zhou Weisheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union of the company, Song Xiaoying, Deputy General Manager, and relevant leaders from the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, Industry and Information Technology Bureau, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Yihe New Area attended the opening ceremony.

This competition has provided a broad stage for skilled talents in the construction machinery industry to showcase their talents and exchange skills. Chairman Liu Fei briefly introduced the economic and social development of Linyi City and the achievements in cultivating skilled talents in his speech. He stated that the development of cities fundamentally relies on talent. This skills competition is held in Linyi, providing a good opportunity to enhance the visibility and influence of Linyi machinery manufacturing. Linyi will further strengthen the construction of a high skilled talent team, cultivate more skilled craftsmen, leading figures, and industry elites. We hope that the contestants can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and improve together, providing inexhaustible talent motivation for the transformation and development of the industry.
Minister Li Ying introduced in her speech the remarkable achievements made by the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions in continuously deepening the reform of industrial workers' team construction and extensively carrying out various forms of labor and skills competitions. She pointed out that the competition organizing committee and the hosting unit should organize carefully, strictly enforce the rules, and ensure the success, smoothness, fairness, and impartiality of the competition. At the ceremony, representatives of the contestants and referees respectively took oaths. Amidst passionate music and enthusiastic applause, the attending leaders jointly launched the 2024 National Construction Machinery Industry Workers' Vocational Skills Competition.
After the opening ceremony, the leaders and guests inspected the competition site and visited the Qiu Feng Skill Master Studio and the excavator assembly line.
This competition consists of two parts: theoretical examination and practical operation. The theoretical examination was completed on the evening of the 23rd. In the following period, contestants will be grouped to participate in practical operation exams for two events: assembly fitter and maintenance electrician. I wish all the contestants can demonstrate their style and level in the competition, and win respect and honor with their superb skills.
